Website Redevelopment
Many of the businesses approaching Autus for website design advice already have a website, or have had a website and discarded it due to a lack of response.
We are always gratified to receive such enquiries. People who have had only negative experience of a web presence and yet are calling us clearly believe that there is still potential for the power of the web to be utilised to deliver results for their business. Autus has a strong track record for its creative approach to website redevelopment & reclamation.
Essential Search Engine Optimisation for Website Redevelopment
In some instances a website may be passable, though not exciting, in terms of its technical structure and graphics. The website owner may be reluctant to invest more money in a total re design until presented with some evidence that the web can be harnessed to work for the business.
In such cases we will optimise the current site, re launch it and evaluate the results. This may involve:-
- Conversion of the Page Top text from an image to HTML. We find that on most poorly performing websites, the company name and the prime heading text is embodied within the main image at the top of each page - effectively hidden from Google's view!
- Application of page tags and alt tags for images. We are constantly amazed at the number of websites with only default page tags. Quite often, where page tags have been applied, they have been very poorly researched.
- Re-development of the website text structure for search engine consumption. See Essential SEO.
- Generation of further internal page links within the website by restructuring the page text and addition of site map and a second strata of navigation on every page.
- Arrangement of addition of inbound links to the website, which the search engines value highly.
Additional Website Upgrade Options
When we have covered the essential website redevelopment / reclamation activity, there are a number of additional upgrades that can be made to further improve the effectiveness of the website. These may include:-
- Restructuring a website that has been constructed using Frames. This type of construction is rarely used today, but sites built using Frames will need to be re structured as the search engines have great difficulty extracting the keyword data from such websites.
- Moderation of the use of Flash technology to ensure that it does not interfere with the search engines' access to the keyword data within the site.
- Addition of web pages which have been optimised for a specific product or service, to reinforce what Google would interpret as the website's 'commitment' to them.
- Correction of broken links and other technical deficiencies in a general review of the website's code. This will improve the search engines' assimilation of data from it and be reflected it its search engine positioning.
